Long time readers of my other blog,
Eat Noodles Love Noodles, will know that I am obsessed by
Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐. So much so that I've contacted this esteemed restaurant group on numerous occasions about opening a London outpost. However, despite my ongoing campaign, I haven't heard back from Din Tai Fung HQ.

Shanghai-style xiao long bao (小籠包) |
At this point, I could give up, but that's not in my nature (well it is actually, but not when it comes to high class Shanghai-style
xiao long bao 小籠包), which is why I've set up this petition-cum-blog. So, if like me, you want to bring Din Tai Fung to London, please leave a comment on this post. The more comments, the better, as hopefully Din Tai Fung management will realise how much loving there is for their dumplings in London town.
I know some of you may not be familiar with the genius of Din Tai Fung, which is why I've knocked up some blog pages (see below) that I hope will convince you to support this campaign.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Mr Noodles!
Thanks, Su-Lin. Your recent review of DTF gave me impetus to finish writing this blog!
DeleteI can still taste the treats of Din Tai Fung Taipei many years after having visited whilst living in Asia. I read an article today intimating that DTF may be heading to London. Let us all hope there is truth in the rumour and we can all start fighting for a table.
DeleteYes, please please please come to London, Din Tai Fung!
ReplyDeleteaw, xiao long bao... fingers crossed.

ReplyDeleteWen
Din Tai fung please come to London!
ReplyDeleteI'll happily sign up. Not just for the gorgeous XLB, but for the other tasty, tasty dishes on the menu. Like the mountain vegetables chopped up with tofu. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI've not tried that particular dish, but it's another example of Din Tai Fung's excellent selection of cold dishes.
DeletePleaseeeeeeeeee open a branch in London, and as I have just quit my job I'd be happy to help you run it as well... Hahahaha.....
ReplyDeleteDear DTF, it would be a dream come true for many of us here in London to enjoy delicious XLB and your other famed dishes. For me it's also the La Mian, Salted-Egg Pumpkin and Steamed Taro Pudding! Keeping everything crossed, HF
ReplyDeleteNot tried the Salted-Egg Pumpkin and Steamed Taro Pudding but the la-mian (noodles) are pretty damn good. And that's the thing, DTF isn't just about the XLB, so many of the dishes are amazing!
DeleteI'm a huge fan of DTF and have eaten at Taipei and Beijing branches. We don't have good XLB in London so please come soon!
ReplyDeleteLondon has space, and the appetite, for authentic Asian cuisine. Din Tai Fung, c'mon, don't let New Yorkers have all the fun. Please come to Lindon and show us what real Xiao Long Bao are all about.
ReplyDeleteDIN TAI FUNG!!!
ReplyDeleteOne more "aye" over here after an unknowing visit there 3 years ago when in Singapore - my first bao and probably my best...
ReplyDeleteYes please. I love XLB! (And after the London branch has proven successful can we have outposts in Leeds and Manchester too please? Thanks)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. There definitely needs to be some northern branches of DTF. After all, I need my XLB fix when I'm up north visiting the folks.
DeleteAnywhere which brings a fresh approach to dim sum in London gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteAs a xiao long bao fanatic, it would make me jump for joy to have a Din Tai Fung in London. I'd be there every week, chopsticks at the ready! Please help my dumpling dreams come true!
ReplyDeleteAfter falling in love with DTF's xiao long bao in Hong Kong I was most upset to find out there was no branch in London, IK. Please open a DTF London - you will assured of a rapturous welcome. And I will have some much wanted XLB.
ReplyDeleteDumplings. Soon-ish. Please.
ReplyDeleteI want you too, pretty please!
ReplyDeletePlease come over DTF because not only will you be loved but we will welcome you with the biggest, BIGGEST open arms you've seen. Don't just bring your xlb, bring everything over.
ReplyDeleteI recommend people post this on their favourite social media site to spread the word!
ReplyDeleteGood shout, Frank. Any links would be much appreciated.
Deleteplease do it DTF!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon, but it'd be great if Anon commenters leave a name or sign off.
DeleteWent to the Singapore one 2 days ago, best dim sum ever. Pork and crab dumplings were amazing, however the truffle XLB was out of this world. Bring DTF to London now!

ReplyDeletePlease come to London and I will make sure all my friends eat there!!
Yen-pei
Hi Yen-pei, I noticed you are from Taiwan. Any chance of spreading the word about this petition in Taiwan so that it comes to the attention of the big bosses at DTF?
DeleteDin Tai Fung, I miss you!!! We need proper Xiao Long Bao!!! Please please please
ReplyDeletewhen i leave beijing once and for all I am definitely going to miss Din tai fung if it doesn't come to London! Please, this could get endless numbers of customers!
ReplyDeleteI miss din tai fung so much omg. How one of the biggest cities in the world does not have din tai fung, i don't understand. Craving. So. Bad. ): I'd go every week if I could honestly, can't find proper good food here :/
ReplyDeleteOh forgot to sign off,
DeleteMonica :)
Din Tai Fung! I promise you that I will eat at your restaurant at least twice a week, and celebrate every occasion with my friends at your restaurant. Please come to London.
ReplyDeleteDTF simply rocks.
ReplyDeleteWe have eaten at DTF several times in KL and Singapore and every time their foods brings so much joy and happiness. The best Ciao Long Bao I have ever eaten. It will be nice to have their branches at every possible city in the world and off-course London.
Bring it on--- the noodles, the dumplings....I would be a regular. Even my kids loooove the place. Tonight I brought home some takeout dumplings and they were jealous, until I shared some!!
ReplyDeleteDTF would clean up in London. Bring. It. On.
ReplyDeleteCannot understand how DTF is not in London yet - Soho is calling out for a branch!
ReplyDeleteHow is this restaurant not in London yet?!
ReplyDeleteLove their food.
Bring DTF to London ASAP!

ReplyDeleteWould love to see DTF in London! (Or Cardiff or anywhere I can get my grubby little paws on their dumplings, really). Let's make it happen!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes and four times yes. How much to set up a franchise? We could crowd-fund it.
ReplyDeleteI was at the Pudong branch recently and hoping so much that it'd open in London! Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeletePlease come to London DTF! I blogged about you when I was in Hong Kong AND Tokyo. Here's a quote from my Tokyo one: "Xiu long bao and prawn wontons delicious as ever; still waiting for them to open one in London!"
ReplyDeletePlease open a London branch, DTF! We desperately need some good XLB here.
ReplyDeleteWould love to sign this but can't find the petition? Can we also start one to beg Ippudo to open a branch in London?
ReplyDeleteGG - The petition is this post. By leaving a comment, you've in effect signed it. Thank you!
DeleteJust returned to London from 3 years in Hong
ReplyDeleteKong...London needs Din Tai Fung!!
Yes, Din Tai Fung please come to London!! They would be hugely successful and can't think why they haven't opened a London branch yet. I would love to see their franchise in Europe and London is definitely the place to start...
ReplyDeletecool;))
ReplyDeleteDin Tai Fung should come to London! Their food is beautiful and amongst the best I've ever had. Just thinking about their Xiao Long Bao and Pork Chop Fried Rice is making me hungry. Coming to London would be the best thing ever!
ReplyDeleteEverytime i see this, this fustrates me more that i can't get to eat this. Please bring this to London...show us what real food should taste like!
ReplyDeleteI miss Din Tai Fung so much! Please come to London so I can enjoy the best food on the planet every day!
ReplyDeletecome to the uk! please!
ReplyDeleteThis place would KILL in London!!!! The dumplings and noodles are always spot on (at least in the Hong Kong sites I have eaten at). The open kitchen/assembly line would encourage people to queue. I would eat here way way to often if there was a London outpost. Please come to the UK!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes please . . . we just returned to UK from 3 years in Singapore and we would love to eat and experience DTF again!!!
ReplyDeleteHad my first experience in one if their HK branches last week and I agree, we defo need one in London. Nothing comes close at present. The red bean XLB for dessert was such a treat!
ReplyDeleteBring it to London!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely something i would love to have in London. The standard of shanghai cuisine here is dire compared to other offerings. The need to come here just to show everyone what theyare missing!
ReplyDeleteHaving left Kuala Lumpur earlier this year I am craving Din Tai Fung food so badly! I would love there to be a branch in London!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I have stumbled upon this site! I have been emailing DTF monthly since I lived in Singapore in 2001 and no response. We need DTF in London!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see you in the UK!
ReplyDeleteI love Din Tai Fung! Yes please open some restaurants in the UK. Manchester first, and then maybe London :p Just kidding - just open a branch already!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, after having eaten in the Tsim Sha Tsui branch last weekend, and returning to London, I can't stop thinking about those lovely little dumplings. Please make this happen!
ReplyDeleteJust back from visiting (the original?) branch in Zhongxiao, Taipei. amazing. Come to London, you will keep us happy AND make lots of money.
ReplyDeleteDin Tai Fung in London asap please!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was in Hong Kong over Chinese New Year - had all my meals planned out . . . was GUTTED to find out that both branches were closed and weren't opening for the whole time I was there . . . just means I have to go back to Hong Kong again!
ReplyDeleteXLB got a mention in the latest London timeout... Sadly they only referenced Dumpling Legends - and nothing on Din Tai Fung!
ReplyDeleteLondon needs DTF, London needs DTF!!!
ReplyDeletePlease please please bring DIN TAI FUNG to London, their dumplings in black vinegar sauce are to die for,
same as the rest of their menu ;) - scrumptious !!!!!
You need to set up a better petition site, dude! But in any case, YES. DIN TAI FUNG IN LONDON NOWWWWwwwwww
ReplyDeletePLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE bring din tai fung in london please!!!!! it's my favourite restaurant ever! I always go to Hong Kong to visit the restaurant but I live in the UK so it would literally make my dream come true if there is one in london! the food is simply heaven!
ReplyDeleteShocked there's no Din Tai Fung in London already to be honest, there really needs to be one.
ReplyDeleteI join my voice to the plea. Open a Din tai Fung branch in London please! I would regularly come to devour my dose of Xiao Long Bao, and with regularly I mean every other day.
ReplyDeleteOne of the main reasons I like going to Singapore is because I get to go to Din Tai Fung. I think they would be a huge hit in London. Please Din Tai Fung!
ReplyDeleteLondon NEEDS a Din Tai Fung. I recently visited one of the KL branches, truffle XLB were out of this world!
ReplyDeleteHave you thought of expanding this campaign to Crystal Jade and Lei Garden/Lei Bistro? I'd say that those three are the holy trinity of an example of being able to roll out a massively scalable food empire without cutting corners on quality. Din Tai Fung seems to have done well with their foray into the US and I really don't understand why the people behind these companies haven't expanded more internationally - just in London alone they would probably not only steal the local market, but with the rise of Chinese/SE Asian tourism visitors would probably flock to somewhere they can get a reliable meal in between exploring our local food scene!
ReplyDeleteThere's a facebook page for this cause too. we need a dtf in Europe http://www.facebook.com/EuropeanDinTaiFung
ReplyDeletecan't found~
ReplyDeletepleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaassssseeeeeeeeeeeee come to London!!!!!!! the steamed pork dumplings (xiao long bao) are my fav food in the world
ReplyDeletePlease open in London!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been to Din Tai Fung in Shanghai, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Singapore - it is extraordinary that they have not yet opened in London, one of the world's great global cities.
ReplyDeleteCome on din tai fung or crystal jade. We want dan dan mien as well.
ReplyDeleteCome to the British Shores, we'll welcome you with open arms and open mouths for your XLBs!
ReplyDeleteMake this happen. XLB for everyone! And a Bee Cheng Hiang or Lim Chee Guan would be nice too!
ReplyDeleteI would love nothing more then for them to open up in London. Hands down the best food I have ever had!
ReplyDeleteBring Din Tai Fung to London!
ReplyDeleteI've been in Singapore and Tokyo and I'm hooked. Franchise model? Would do very well in London.
ReplyDeleteBring it to London - best xiao long bao going!
ReplyDeleteYES!!!
ReplyDeletePlease, our two little kids loved din tai fung in Taipei ! We can not fly there regularly just to get dim sum so please come to London or Frankfurt !!!
ReplyDeletePlease please please!!! We recently moved to London from Seattle and have not found any dumpling place that is nearly as good as Din Tai Fung!! We miss it and crave it regularly... We would be there every week - just like in Bellevue - if it were here!!
ReplyDeleteWe went to the dtf in Kowloon nearly every week when we lived there. Live it so much. Want it here in London!

ReplyDeleteThis would be my dream come true!!
ReplyDeleteHad them in Shanghai!! Best meal ever.. Seriously need one in London! I want to go for my birthday!!
ReplyDeleteyou can sign this facebook petition https://www.facebook.com/EuropeanDinTaiFung
ReplyDeleteI was in Taipei 101 2 weeks ago eating in Din Tai Fung and feel in love with the food. Came back home to London and my 1st search brought up this blog ! You would be foolish not to bring this food phenomenon to London. It would be an instant winner for everyone!
ReplyDeleteHaving experienced this wonder in Hangzhou, China when we lived there, I was greatly disappointed to find that there was no branch in London. My wife on a recent trip to Taiwan did bring back the official boxed set of soy sauce and vinegar though, but frankly I feel that the dumplings I can get, don't deserve such luxury. C'mon guys, give us a break!!
ReplyDeleteYes please. I lived in Japan for two years and was horrified to come back to London and discover that there was no Din Tai Fung. Honestly, you will make buckets of money. Please come to London.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. They finally listened. Theyre coming in 2017. Better start queuing now. http://www.straitstimes.com/business/companies-markets/breadtalk-to-bring-din-tai-fung-restaurants-to-uk-with-london-debut-in?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&xtor=CS1-10#link_time=147936050
